Profile menu and personalizing the webapp
Open the profile menu behind your avatar to switch theme, language, and layout width, check notifications, sign out, and reach your account pages, and see why those choices follow you to a new device.
The profile menu is your quick way to personalise the CLVR Benefits webapp and reach your account pages. It lives behind your avatar in the top corner of the header, so the same controls are always within reach no matter which page you are on. From it you switch the theme, language, and layout width, check your notifications, open your account pages, and sign out. This article walks through the menu, each personal setting, why those choices follow you to a new device, and the pages still being built.
Open the menu
Select your avatar in the top corner of the header. On a computer the menu opens as a dropdown right below it; on a phone it slides in from the side as a panel.
At the top you will see:
- Your name.
- The email address on your account.
The menu gives you a few personal settings and links to your account pages:
- Notifications: opens your notifications list.
- Theme: choose System, Light, or Dark.
- Language: switch between Svenska and English.
- App Layout Width: choose Fixed (a comfortable centred width) or Full (content stretches to the full window).
- Profile: opens your profile page.
- Settings: opens your settings page.
- Sign Out: signs you out of CLVR Benefits.
Theme, language, and layout take effect the moment you pick them, so there is nothing extra to save.
These controls follow your account, not the device, so the theme and language you pick here carry over when you next sign in somewhere else.
Switch between light and dark mode
CLVR Benefits comes in a light and a dark color scheme, and you choose which one you see. Near the top of the menu you will see the Theme heading with three small buttons next to it, in order:
- System (a screen icon), which follows whatever your device is set to.
- Light (a sun icon), which keeps the app light all the time.
- Dark (a moon icon), which keeps the app dark all the time.
Select a button and the app switches with a smooth cross-fade. The button for the option you are using stays highlighted, so you can always see which one is active. There is no Save button: your choice takes effect the moment you select it.
With System selected, CLVR matches your device's own light or dark setting. If your phone or computer switches to its dark theme in the evening, the app turns dark with it, and back to light in the morning, without you touching anything. Choose Light or Dark instead when you want the app to stay one way regardless of your device.
The buttons show only icons. Hover over one (or read the screen-reader label) to confirm whether it is System, Light, or Dark before you select it.
Change your language between Swedish and English
The webapp is available in Swedish and English, and you can switch between them at any time. Find the Language section in the menu. It shows two buttons, 🇸🇪 Svenska and 🇬🇧 English, with the current language highlighted. Select the language you want and the interface updates immediately, with no need to reload the page.
When you switch, the page address also changes to start with your chosen language, for example /sv/... for Svenska or /en/... for English. The same choice is shared between the webapp and the CLVR Benefits public site, so both stay in the language you picked. Swedish is the default for new accounts and whenever no language has been chosen yet, so you only ever need to change it if you would prefer English.
If you open a link that points to the other language, for example an English link while you have chosen Svenska, the webapp sends you back to your preferred language. That keeps everything consistent no matter which link, bookmark, or older tab you arrive from. To change languages, use the Language section rather than editing the address.
Change the app layout width
The App Layout Width section, below Theme and Language, lets you choose how wide the content area is. This is purely about how the screen looks; it changes nothing about your benefits, balances, or expenses.
- Fixed caps the content area at a maximum width (1280px) and centers it on the page. On a wide monitor you get margins on both sides, which keeps lines and grids from spreading out too far.
- Full sets the content area to 100% of the window width. There are no side margins, so everything uses the space edge to edge. This suits large or ultrawide screens where you want to see more at once.
Your choice highlights right away and the page resizes instantly, with a short transition. There is nothing to save. On your dashboard, Full does not just stretch the existing cards; it shows more of them: the Popular categories grid shows more categories instead of a short row, and the benefits grid shows up to twelve benefits at once rather than six. On smaller screens, like a phone or a narrow window, both options look the same, because the content already fits within the maximum width.
Try Full if you work on a large external monitor and want to scan more benefits without scrolling, and Fixed if you prefer a calmer, centered reading width on a laptop.
Check your notifications
CLVR shows you when there is something new without making you hunt for it. When you have unread notifications, a small red dot appears on your avatar. The marker updates on its own: CLVR checks for new notifications every half minute, and again the moment you switch back to the CLVR tab, so the dot appears soon after something new arrives.
Open the menu and the Notifications button shows a red number of how many are waiting. While CLVR is still checking, a spinner shows in place of the number for a moment; when you have nothing unread, the button shows no number at all. The count reflects notifications you have not read yet, plus any that still need an action from you (for example, an expense report waiting for your review). Very large counts are capped, so an unusually high number is shown as the top of the range rather than an exact figure.
Select Notifications to open the full Notifications page. There you see your recent notifications in one list, newest first, grouped by what they are about, such as ACTION REQUIRED, ADDED AS REVIEWER, or UPDATE. If you have nothing waiting, the page reads You have nothing to worry about!
Opening the Notifications page marks your notifications as read, so the red dot on your avatar and the number on the button clear shortly after you have looked. You can also select Mark all as read on the page to clear everything at once. Items that need an action from you keep counting until you act on them, not just until you read them.
Sign out
Signing out ends your current session in the browser you are using and returns you to the sign-in page.
Signing out only affects the current browser session. It ends your session here, so anyone using this browser next has to sign in again, but it does not change anything about your account, your benefits, or any expense you have submitted, and it does not sign you out of CLVR Benefits on your other devices.
On a shared or public computer, always sign out before you walk away. That keeps the next person from reaching your account.
Why your choices follow you to a new device
When you set your theme, language, or layout, the choice is saved in two places at once: in the browser you are using, so it loads instantly without waiting for the network, and on your account, so it is not lost if you switch devices or clear your browser.
When you sign in somewhere new, the browser has no saved choices yet. CLVR reads the preferences stored on your account and applies them right after you sign in, so your theme, language, and layout look the way you left them. The same thing happens after you clear your cookies or use a private browsing window. Because the account copy is the fallback, you only ever have to set a preference once, and the next device picks it up for you.
If you have never set a preference, CLVR starts with sensible defaults: Language is Svenska, and Theme follows your device, the same as choosing System. Updating a preference on one device also updates your account, so if you switch to Dark on your laptop, the next time you sign in on your phone it is already dark there too. Your most recent choice always wins, on every device.
Because your account copy is the fallback, signing out never loses your settings. The next time you sign in, even on a new phone or computer, CLVR restores them automatically.
Pages still being built
Two destinations in the profile menu, Profile and Settings, open pages that are still under development, as is the Tasks page in the Me section. Each shows an Under development. Coming soon! placeholder rather than content, so an empty page there is expected and nothing is broken.
- Profile (
/me/profile) will eventually let you view your personal details in one place. In the meantime, your name and email show at the top of the profile menu, and your pay and benefits are on the Total compensation page. - Settings (
/me/settings) will gather appearance and account controls. For now, the theme, language, and layout controls people often look for there live in the profile menu itself, where they are quick to reach from any page. - Tasks (in the Me section, alongside My Benefits and Compensation) will gather action items in one place. Until it launches, anything that needs your attention shows up in your Notifications and on My Benefits, which lists every expense report you have submitted and its current status.
An empty Profile, Settings, or Tasks page does not mean you missed anything. You do not need to turn anything on or ask your HR team to enable it; when each feature is ready, its page will start showing content on its own.
Troubleshooting
- I cannot find the avatar. It is in the top corner of the header. If your name is hidden on a narrow screen, look for the round avatar on its own.
- The app keeps switching between light and dark on its own. You are on System, so it is following your device. Select Light or Dark to lock it.
- The page reverted to my saved language. That is expected. A link in the other language redirects to the language you chose in the profile menu. Use the Language section to change it.
- Nothing seems to change when I switch the layout width. On a small screen or narrow window the content already fits, so Fixed and Full look identical. Try it on a wider window or a larger monitor.
- The notification dot will not go away. Open the Notifications page and let it load, or use Mark all as read. Items that need an action from you keep counting until you act on them.
- My theme, language, or layout did not carry over to a new device. Preferences follow you once you sign in, and only when you are signed in to the same account, so sign in first, then check the controls in the profile menu. If a choice did not stick after clearing cookies, sign in again and CLVR restores it from your account.
- I do not see Sign Out. Open the profile menu first by selecting your avatar. Sign Out is the last item in the menu. If you were signed out without doing anything, sessions end after a period of inactivity for your security; just sign in again.
- Selecting Profile, Settings, or Tasks shows only "Coming soon". That is expected for now. Those pages are still under development; use the profile menu and the Total compensation page in the meantime.
