Common questions
Caroline, our CEO, has worked with Swedish tax and benefits for 10+ years. Ask her in a demo.
It is the value of a benefit that counts as income. You pay income tax on it on your next payslip, like salary. Tax-free categories have none, for example wellness up to 5,000 kr a year.
Most benefits are taxed like salary. Skatteverket makes a few exceptions. Wellness and exercise are tax free up to 5,000 kr a year, when the whole staff gets the same offer, and a massage counts if it costs at most 1,000 kr a visit. Training your employer pays for is tax free when it has to do with your job. Occupational health care, preventive treatment and rehabilitation are tax free; other health care, dental care and health insurance are taxed. Work clothes your employer gives you are tax free when they are a uniform or protective clothing you can't wear privately. Money for your own work clothes or tools is taxed, even if you only use them at work. A bike your employer lends you is tax free up to 3,000 kr of value a year.
Skatteverket: förmånerSo your employer pays nothing extra. The 31.42 % fee to Skatteverket is taken from the allowance. That is why a taxable purchase uses more allowance than it costs.
Wellness bought in December counts for next year's tax-free limit, so wellness uploads are closed in December. Keep the receipt and upload it after 1 January.
Then your numbers may differ. We assume you already paid for it yourself, have allowance left and are under the wellness limit, and we work out the income tax on a 45,000 kr monthly salary. Your employer decides which categories are taxable, so you can flip "At my employer this is tax free" in your result. Your real figures are in the CLVR app.
That you already paid for it yourself, that you have enough allowance left, that you are under the 5,000 kr wellness limit, and a 45,000 kr monthly salary on tax table 32 for the income tax. Every result lists what we assumed.

Yes, up to 600 kr including VAT in 2026, when every employee or a larger group gets one. Over that, the whole gift is taxed, not just the part over. Money, and gift cards that can be swapped for money, are always taxed. Our guide has the rules and a check for your gift.
