Choose your vacation days
Once a year you choose how many vacation days you want for the coming vacation year, and your monthly salary changes to match. How the choice works and when you can make it.
Some employers let you choose how many vacation days you get. Once a year you pick the number for the coming vacation year, and your monthly salary changes to match. More days means a slightly lower salary. Fewer days means a slightly higher one. What you cost your employer stays the same.
It's not a purchase. Nothing comes off your benefit allowance, and nothing shows among your expenses.
Find it
Open Benefits Store, then the Time off category, then Semesterdagar. If your employer doesn't offer it, it's not in the store.
While you can choose, your dashboard lists Choose your vacation days under Your deadlines. It shows when the window closes, and a Choose button that opens the page.
Make your choice
The page shows a slider with the number of days. Move it, and the figures under it update at once:
| Figure | What it shows |
|---|---|
| What one vacation day is worth | A day of your pay, plus the holiday supplement that goes with it. |
| Monthly salary today | Your salary now. |
| Change | How much more or less you get each month. |
| New monthly salary | Your salary with the days you picked. The line under it says when it applies from. |
Example: you have 30 days and a salary of 75,000 kr a month. Picking 35 days gives about 73,930 kr. That's about 214 kr less a month for each extra day. Your own figures depend on your salary and pension.
When the number looks right, select Save my choice. Nobody needs to approve it.
Your choice takes effect when you save it
Your new salary is set as soon as you save. It applies from the start of the vacation year. A short message confirms the days and your new monthly salary.
You can change your mind while the window is open. Select Update my choice to save a new number. The last one you save counts. The page says the date you can change it until.
When the window closes, your choice locks. You get a notification, Your vacation days are set, with your days and salary. After that, talk to HR if something looks wrong.
If you don't choose, nothing changes. You keep your vacation days and your salary.
The window
You can only choose during a set period each year. Your employer decides it. Outside that period, the page shows the dates.
You get an email and a notification when the window opens. If you haven't chosen two days before it closes, you get a reminder.
Troubleshooting
- The page says We need one more thing before you can choose. Your vacation days or your annual salary isn't on record. The salary is worked out from both. Ask HR to add what's missing.
- The page says your current days are outside this year's range. Your payroll system has more or fewer days for you than you can choose here. Every option is still priced from your days today. If that number is wrong, ask HR to correct it before you choose.
- The slider won't move. The window hasn't opened, has closed, or your choice is locked. The message at the top says which.
- The figures look wrong. They use your salary and the vacation days on record for you. If either is out of date, ask HR to check them.
