Choose your pension
Once a year you may choose how your pension is paid in for the coming year, ITP1 or a flat rate of your salary, and your salary changes to match. How the choice works and when you can make it.
Some employers let you choose how your pension is paid in. Once a year you pick an arrangement for the coming year: ITP1, the collective agreement, or a flat rate of your salary. A bigger pension is bought out of your salary at cost, so what your employment costs your employer is the same whichever you pick.
This is not a purchase. Nothing comes off your benefit allowance. It changes how your pay is split between salary and pension.
Find it
Open Benefits Store and select Pension. While the window is open, the page shows Choose your pension arrangement. Your dashboard also lists Choose your pension under your deadlines, and you get an email and a notification when the window opens.
If your employer does not offer the yearly choice, the Pension page shows your arrangement without a choice.
Make your choice
The flat rates sit on a slider in whole percent, and ITP1 is a card beside it. Your employer decides which rates you can pick. For each option the page shows two columns, Today and If you choose this:
- Monthly salary
- To pension per month
Move between the options to compare them. When it looks right, select Save my choice. Nothing goes to HR for approval.
You can change your mind
Until the window closes, select Update my choice to pick another option. The last choice you save is the one that counts. The page says the date the window closes, and you get a reminder two days before if you have not chosen.
When the window closes your choice is final, and it applies to the period the page names. Your new salary and pension show on the Pension card on Me.
If you do not choose, nothing changes: you keep the level you have today.
When you can't choose
The page tells you why instead of showing the choice:
- You hold a work permit. Where your employer has set it up, your pension is fixed on ITP1.
- You are on ITP2 or your pension goes through Fora. Those are set by the agreement.
- You are under 25. Occupational pension starts at 25.
- Your arrangement or your salary is not on record. HR has to add it first.
- The window is not open yet, or has closed. The page shows the dates.
Troubleshooting
- The figures look wrong. They are worked out from the salary and pension arrangement on record for you. If either is out of date, ask your HR team to check it.
- My choice was not saved. Your current arrangement still applies. Try again, and if it keeps failing tell HR which arrangement you were choosing.
