Allowed file types and size limits
The file types Company Files accepts, the 25 MB limit per file, and what to do when a file is not uploaded.
Company Files accepts a fixed set of document, spreadsheet, presentation and image types, and each file can be at most 25 MB. The same rules apply in every folder, including Shared with CLVR. This article lists the allowed types, explains the messages you see when a file is not uploaded, and shows how to get a blocked file in.
Allowed file types
When you upload to Company Files, these types go through:
- PDF (
.pdf) - Word (
.doc,.docx) - Excel (
.xls,.xlsx) - CSV (
.csv) - PowerPoint (
.pptx) - Pages, Numbers and Keynote (
.pages,.numbers,.keynote) - PNG (
.png) - JPG (
.jpg,.jpeg)
A file of any other type is not uploaded, even if it opens fine on your computer.
The 25 MB limit per file
Each file must be 25 MB or smaller. While you drag files onto the page, it reminds you: "Max 25 MB per file."

What a file that was not uploaded looks like
- Over 25 MB. The file is not uploaded, and a message says so, for example "1 file is over 25 MB and was not uploaded". The other files you picked at the same time still upload.
- A type that is not allowed. A message names the file and says it "was not uploaded because Company files does not take that type of file", followed by the list of types you can upload.
- Not enough storage left. A message says the file "was not uploaded because your company's files already use the space you have".
Troubleshooting
- A file will not upload. Check that it is one of the allowed types above and is 25 MB or smaller. The message on screen tells you which it was.
- My file is the wrong type. Save or export it as PDF (works for almost any document) or, for data, as CSV or Excel, then upload it again.
- My file is over 25 MB. Make it smaller, for example by saving a PDF again at a lower quality, or split it into several files under 25 MB, and upload them separately.
- My presentation will not upload. PowerPoint files must be
.pptx. Save an older.pptfile as.pptx, or export it as a PDF.
