Job families

AI & General Settings 3 min readUpdated 3 days ago

Turn on job families, let CLVR's AI group your employees by job title, see which benefit categories each group uses on the HR dashboard, and change anyone's group yourself.

Job families group your employees by the kind of work they do, such as Engineering, Sales or Care. CLVR's AI makes the groups from job titles and your industry, and the HR dashboard's Benefit usage by job family widget then shows which benefit categories each group uses and how spread out that is. You can move anyone to another group, and the AI never moves them back.

Turn on job families

1

In the HR menu, open Settings and select AI settings.

2

Under Employees, switch on Job families and save.

If your company is already live, the first grouping starts at once and takes a few minutes. If you are still setting CLVR up, it starts on your go-live day.

What the AI reads

Only job titles and your company's name. Never names or anything else about a person.

  • The first run reads every job title once and makes between 3 and 12 broad groups, named in English and Swedish.
  • After that, a new employee whose job title CLVR has seen joins that group straight away, without AI. AI is asked only about titles it has not seen.
  • An employee without a job title is not grouped. You can pick their group yourself.

See usage by job family

On the HR dashboard, select Customize, add Benefit usage by job family from the widget library and select Done. The widget follows the period you pick at the top of the dashboard.

  • At its narrowest it shows one bar per group, split by benefit category.
  • Wider, it adds how many in each group used a benefit and what the group spent per person.
  • At two thirds and full width it is a heatmap: switch between Spend share (each group's spending, split by category) and Reach (how many in each group used the category). The gear sets which one it starts on, and whether it shows the four largest groups or all of them.
Tip.

A group with fewer than 3 people is shown as Other, so nobody's spending stands out. If Other itself has fewer than 3 people it is left out, but those people still count in the company average.

While the first grouping runs, the widget shows its progress. While job families are off, it shows Turn on job families with a link to AI settings.

Change someone's group

Open the employee from View All Employees. In Employee data, the Job family field sits under Role. Pick a group, or Not set, and save. Your choice stays: the AI never moves that person again. The employee list also has a Job family column you can show, sort and filter by. Manage job families in the widget opens the list sorted by it.

Troubleshooting

  • The widget says Creating job families for a long time. The first run usually takes a few minutes. If it still shows after a day, contact CLVR support.
  • Someone is in the wrong group. Pick the right one in their Job family field. Your choice is kept.
  • Someone has no group. They may have no job title, or joined since the last run. New titles are grouped automatically, at the latest overnight; you can also pick a group yourself.
  • I do not see the Job family field. It shows once job families are on, or once a group exists.
