Internal files storage limit
How the separate storage limit for internal files works, what happens when it is full, and how to free up space.
Internal files have their own storage allowance, separate from the one used for the files you publish to employees on Company Files. The internal files area is where your HR team shares sensitive documents privately with CLVR, and it gets its own quota so the two never compete for space. This article explains how the limit works, what you see when an upload would go over it, and how to make room.
Where internal files live
Open Internal Files in the webapp. The page is only available to people on the HR team. A warning notice at the top reminds you what the area is for: files saved here are shared only with CLVR, completely separate from Company Files, and they are never visible to your employees.
Unlike the Company Files page, the internal files view does not show a storage usage bar. The allowance is still there and still enforced, it is just applied quietly when you upload rather than shown as a running total.
How much space you have
- Every company starts with a 100 MB internal files allowance.
- A single file can be up to 10 MB, the same per-file cap as company files. You see Max file size: 10MB under the upload area.
- The internal files allowance is independent from the company files allowance. Filling one has no effect on the other, because each is counted on its own.
The 100 MB internal files allowance is fixed and cannot be changed from the webapp. If you genuinely need more room, contact your CLVR contact and they can raise it for you.
When an upload would go over the limit
If the file (or files) you drop would push you past your remaining internal files space, the upload is stopped before anything is sent. You see a Storage limit exceeded notice that tells you how much the upload needs against how much you have left, for example "You need 14.0 MB but only have 6.2 MB remaining." Nothing is uploaded, so the files you already have are untouched.
The same check runs again on the server, so an upload can never quietly slip past the limit.
How to free up space
The quickest way to make room is to remove internal files you no longer need to keep:
On Internal Files, select the file you want to remove.
Choose Delete file, then confirm in the dialog. Deleting cannot be undone.
The space is freed straight away, and you can upload again.
If you have cleared what you can and still run out of room, ask your CLVR contact to raise the internal files allowance for your company.
Troubleshooting
- My upload was blocked with "Storage limit exceeded". The upload was larger than the space you have left in the internal files area. Delete files you no longer need, or add them in smaller batches.
- One file will not upload even though the area looks fairly empty. Check its size: single files over 10 MB are rejected no matter how much room is left.
- I deleted Company Files but the internal files area is still full. The two allowances are separate. Free up space inside Internal Files itself, not Company Files.
- I have cleared everything I can and still need more room. The 100 MB limit is fixed in the webapp. Contact your CLVR contact to have it raised.
